In South Korea, General Motors’ design studios creates three mini cars such as Trax, Groove and Beat. These models were debuted as a concept vehicle at the 2007 New York International Auto Show. Production of Chevrolet beat will start in early 2010 in Europe, and in 2011 in North America, making it the first Chevrolet of its size class in that market. Chevrolet Beat is powered by 1.2 L turbocharged petrol engine car at price between 3.5 – 5 lakh. Its’ price will compete with other premium hatchback cars like Maruti Ritz, Hyundai i10, Maruti Swift, Fiat Punto, and upcoming Volkswagen Polo.

The Beat concept sports a Vertigo Green exterior paint job with the same hue carried over to parts of the interior. It’s getting easier to own one BMW

BMW India launched two new variants of the best selling BMW 3 Series Sedan: the new BMW 320d Corporate Edition (Diesel) and the new BMW 330i (Petrol).

The BMW 320d’s four-cylinder diesel engine with an all aluminium crankcase and third-generation common-rail direct injection also features variable inlet valves and high-pressure fuel injection. The common-rail system separates pressure generation and fuel injection, with electronically controlled injectors delivering the fuel to the cylinders. Third-generation common rail operates at pressures of up to 2000 bars and is therefore more precise in the amount and delivery of fuel injected. The BMW 320d features a 1995 cc four-cylinder engine with the maximum output of 130kW at 4000 RPM and maximum torque of 350 Nm at 1750-3000 RPM.

Volkswagen India will launch the popular Beetle car in India in December this year. This car will be imported from company’s Mexican plant and sold in India.

VOLKSWAGEN INDIA will launch its popular people’s car-Beetle in India this December and the company is bracing up for a national launch with advertisement campaigns in both print and electronic media.

Beetle is one of the most successful models that the German carmaker has ever produced. The car bucked all trends and has made history, although critics had predicted a complete failure due to its peculiar styling, underpowered motor, rough ride and noisy engine.

Volkswagen, which currently sells luxury sedans Passat and Jetta in Indian market, is planning to launch its small car Polo by early next year.

The group has two facilities in India at Aurangabad and Chakan, which assembles cars of its three brands, Skoda, Audi and Volkswagen.

Volkswagen has opened bookings for Beetle and you have to pay an initial deposit of Rs. 2 lakhs and it will cater the following specifications:

The market launch of Volkswagen Jetta took place in Mumbai, on 16th July 2008. The Jetta sedan is being assembled locally, at the Aurangabad plant of the Volkswagen Group. Amongst the three variants of Jetta are 1.6L Petrol Trendline, 1.9L Diesel Trendline and 1.9L Diesel Comfortline, with DSG Automatic transmission. As far as prices of the models go, the first is expected to be launched at Rs 12.97 lakh, while the second and third one will be available for Rs 14.22 lakh and Rs 16.67 lakh, respectively.

Powertrain & Performance

Under the hood of this dashing sedan is a 1.6L 4cylinder churning out 101 bhp for the petrol version and 1.9L 4-cylinder delivering 104 bhp for the diesel variant. Porsche Panamera launches in India by Oct

The Porsche Panamera (Type number 970) is a four-door, four-seat luxury sedan, which will be launched in 2009.

German Luxury car maker Porsche will launch its first four door sports car Panamera in India by October ‘09. The Panamera will be priced in the Rs 1.42 Crore to Rs 2.02 Crore range in India. Porsche Panamera will make its official debut at the upcoming Shanghai Motor Show 2009.

It will carry a front-engined and a rear wheel drive and powered by a tuned version of the 4.5-Litre, V-8 which is found in Porsche Cayenne model, equipped with FSI system as used by Volkswagen (Porsche and Volkswagen on a joint venture on the Cayenne/Touareg Sport Utility Vehicle platform).

The Panamera will come with a 4.8 Litre V8 engine as standard in naturally aspirated and turbocharged forms. Also, Porsche’s dual clutch PDk gearbox will be standard in the 4S and the Turbo variants while being an option is the S version.

American carmaker, Ford Motor, plans to make India its manufacturing hub for its small car Figo it showcased on Wednesday for the Asia Pacific market

The small car will be a four-door hatchback, powered by an indigenous diesel and petrol engine manufactured at its Chennai plant. Ford India has invested around $500 million (Rs 2,400 crore) to double the current capacity by one lakh cars and 2.5 lakh engines, company officials said.

Ford Motor Co will launch production of its Figo small car in India in early 2010,

Figo, Italian for “cool” will be launched in the first quarter of 2010 and come in both petrol and diesel variants. Ford India has not announced any price but the car is expected to cost Rs 4 lakh and upwards for the base variant and will be pitted against Maruti Swift and Ritz, Fiat Punto, Chevrolet U-VA and Hyundai I20.
